"bye-bye" box mixes

My friend Jennifer warned me about these homemade brownies! The recipe is in the Southern Living, August issue page 140. It is amazing I had all the ingredients. The only problem I had was....we couldn't wait until they were cool to sample! LOL

SO GOOD BROWNIES
4 (1-oz.) unsweetened chocolate baking squares
3/4 cup butter
1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
3 large eggs
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1/8 tsp. salt

1. Preheat oven to 350. Line bottom and sides of an 8-inch pan with aluminum foil, allowing 2-3 inches to extend over sides; lightly grease foil.
2. Microwave chocolate square and butter in a large bowl at HIGH 1 1/2 to 2 minutes or until melted and smooth, stirring at 30-second intervals. Whisk in granulated and brown sugars. Add eggs, 1 at a time, whisking just until blended after each addition. Whisk in flour, vanilla, and salt.
3. Pour mixture into prepared pan.
4. Bake at 350 for 40 to 44 minutes OR until a wooden pick inserted in center comes out with a few moist crumbs. Cool completely on a wire rack (about 1 hr). Lift brownies from pan, using foil sides as handles. Gently remove foil, and cut brownies into 16 squares.

ENJOY they are so YUMMY!

DCHS Cheerleader

Courtney will be a freshman at Desoto Central High School. She is on the varsity competition cheer squad.

Summer Reading

Reading is always better by the pool. Courtney has two summer reading books to complete before the school year starts on August 10. "To Kill a Mockingbird" and "All Quiet on the Western Front"

Swim Party

SWIMMING PARTY

Courtney's birthday is in February. She decided to wait and have a swim party during the summer! We finally were able to have the party when all (But One) friends were in town. Thanks to all for making the day so special and FUN!!

Courtney's Bedroom Makeover

Courtney left for Panama City Beach with the GRUMC youth on June 28. Dink came up with the idea to surprise Courtney with a room makeover while she was gone on the trip. Courtney returned from the beach trip on July 3. It was so exciting to hear her scream when she opened her bedroom door! Tears filled my eyes. She raced to the end of the stairs and screamed "You are the Greatest Parents!"

Welcome!

Another view of the room. Courtney treasures the American flag. It was given to her after papaw's funeral.

I got the fabric covered cork board idea from PBTeen. It turned out really cute.

PBTeen bedding.

Window treatments to coordinate with bedding.

40" Sony flat screen TV. Hoping it will be hung on the wall soon.

New queen pillow top mattress.

Another view of the bathroom. I made the fabric covered tiles.

Dressing area

New shower curtain and towels to match bedroom.
